Folk & Jazz fan, specialising in vinyl restoration.
Although I would prefer to only post albums that I have paid for, or those of close friends, I am open to suggestions and offers of rare Folk items that need tender care and restoration, provided the supplier has the right of ownership of the physical item. NOT JUST an MP3 COPY of it.
To give you an idea, I am prepared to restore vinyl belonging to another person, IF I receive a decent quality scan of the front, back and any relevant information that comes with the LP, preferably at least 2400 by 2400 quality, (600DPI scans for back) along with the sound files in FLAC format as waves are a bit too large to transfer.
Then I will check their suitability for restoration.
I try to maintain the requirement for a decent set of scans for each item, where possible, as I feel the music is incomplete without it. Sometimes this is just not possible as a lot of my stock came from broadcasting organisations that had their own heavy card sleeves, with information relevant to their prime function, that of providing the disc-jockies with basic details to pass on to listeners. I do wonder what happened to all the original artwork?
This album has been posted before on THTM blog but you might like to have this copy too, different scans, and what to me sounds a better rip than the original one. This copy is, as near as I can tell, on the correct pitch, the original one seems fast.
The album theme covers the songs associated with the cotton & weaving industry in Lancashire from the mid 1750's through to the 1850's. It portrays the hardship and poverty of the area and the time, where children as young as six were employed in the mills to add to the family's meagre income. Come the age of mechanisation, steam mills etc and the workers objected to the loss of jobs, resulting in sabotage of the new mills, and the forming of the "Luddites" led by Ned Ludd with a similar aim to the Croppers, that of disabling the weaving frames by removing vital parts.

Lots to do, computer work, Jazz work, and its been quite warm, not really the weather to sit at a hot PC editing, so output is way down on normal, but we are STILL here never fear. I still have a load of folk vinyl to restore, even though many Topic lable LP's have now been released on CD.
