About Me

My photo
Folk & Jazz fan, specialising in vinyl restoration. Although I would prefer to only post albums that I have paid for, or those of close friends, I am open to suggestions and offers of rare Folk items that need tender care and restoration, provided the supplier has the right of ownership of the physical item. NOT JUST an MP3 COPY of it. To give you an idea, I am prepared to restore vinyl belonging to another person, IF I receive a decent quality scan of the front, back and any relevant information that comes with the LP, preferably at least 2400 by 2400 quality, (600DPI scans for back) along with the sound files in FLAC format as waves are a bit too large to transfer. Then I will check their suitability for restoration. I try to maintain the requirement for a decent set of scans for each item, where possible, as I feel the music is incomplete without it. Sometimes this is just not possible as a lot of my stock came from broadcasting organisations that had their own heavy card sleeves, with information relevant to their prime function, that of providing the disc-jockies with basic details to pass on to listeners. I do wonder what happened to all the original artwork?

CHANGES to DOWNLOAD links on SOME posts.

RapidShare is becoming unreliable now
What with the new charges, the unscheduled deletions and
the recent abandoning of the download credits that helped
to fund the costs of supporting INSTANT downloads, I am
now having to change to other services. You will in future
see different links and sometimes multiple links to files.

As you will see I have started using ShareBee to upload the archives, I would appreciate any feedback you care to give in comments, was it easy, are all the links working etc. I am also aware that the links may not last if they are not frequently downloaded, so there might need to be some more re-uploads at sometime soon, at least you get the choice of 4 or 5 different sites now.

The RapidShare links will remain valid until my paid up account runs out of funds, then I'm afraid that will be it, so if there is anything you want, I advise get it quick.

SHAREBEE is also USELESS, looking for another
Now trying "2Shared"

hi & thanks for all the your great historic endeavours here
some remarks on uploading: if you use a multiple hoster, be sure to keep the links archived
megaupload links stand longest (at least here in europe)
using a different pass for each dl as well as splitting between two sides is really rather user-unfriendly and does not benefit anything i think
thanks again

It is a small inconvenience to have to download TWO files compared to the effort required to prepare this material per track. The password is to help prevent casual snoopers from identifying the content, if that matters. The upload sites all have their weak points, using multiple ones does help, but retention is never good on the FREE ones, as is the download speed and limits applied, I certainly am NOT going to do daily checks on hundreds of them, just in case some free-loader might want them 2 years after posting.
I have always worked with the maxim:
The enjoyment OUT is proportional to the effort IN, bit like jogging really...
