About Me

My photo
Folk & Jazz fan, specialising in vinyl restoration. Although I would prefer to only post albums that I have paid for, or those of close friends, I am open to suggestions and offers of rare Folk items that need tender care and restoration, provided the supplier has the right of ownership of the physical item. NOT JUST an MP3 COPY of it. To give you an idea, I am prepared to restore vinyl belonging to another person, IF I receive a decent quality scan of the front, back and any relevant information that comes with the LP, preferably at least 2400 by 2400 quality, (600DPI scans for back) along with the sound files in FLAC format as waves are a bit too large to transfer. Then I will check their suitability for restoration. I try to maintain the requirement for a decent set of scans for each item, where possible, as I feel the music is incomplete without it. Sometimes this is just not possible as a lot of my stock came from broadcasting organisations that had their own heavy card sleeves, with information relevant to their prime function, that of providing the disc-jockies with basic details to pass on to listeners. I do wonder what happened to all the original artwork?

Holiday Progress report

As you most likely realise I am touring Australia at the moment, sometimes internet access is limited hence I have yet to send some passwords for requests for the Brian Dewhurst album, these will be attended to on my return (late April), meanwhile the other requests have been resolved by re-posting the passwords on the blog. Check to postings for more information.

The requests for the "Hunter and the Hunted" album password will be dealt with when I return to the UK in a few days, after the jet lag recovery period of course.

Currently Tasmania is my location, next stop Sydney, then Perth in Western Australia, finally home.

You may recognise this picture of the Pentecost river if you use the Australia wallpaper set from the Microsoft Windows 7 installation, only difference, this is as seen not the over processed Windows version of the wallpaper.

Had an enjoyable weekend in Sydney with friends, flight out to Perth was delayed due to a massive storm over Sydney, the drive to the airport was restricted to 20-30 km/h at times due to poor visibility fortunately we got there OK though slightly wet walking from the car park to the booking in desks

Now in Perth WA resting a while to catch up with the new time zone, relaxing on the verandah overlooking a sunny Swan river with Ibis and Egrets in the billabong, pictures below.

Visited the Fairbridge Music festival in Western Australia 2+ days of Sun, Music and drinking.
Two nights in a tent took me back to the early days of camping at the UK international Folk festival at Sidmouth, only in this case it was {HOT} and no rain, but tons of dust, so ended up losing my voice, a good excuse NOT to sing, so the assembled company were let off from the agonies.

Final few days were spent in Perth, visiting friends, looking round the city to see what had changed in the past 4 years, hanging out on the "strip" in Fremantle and enjoying some superb fish & chips at one of the many waterside eateries, finishing off with a local brewed cider in the most amazing bar/come brewery and eatery among all the stainless steel tanks and pipes, well worth a visit on a hot day.

Fremantle "Round House"

Trip back to the UK via Singapore was uneventful, even quite easy, a good (lucky) selection of seats allowing enough leg room and some sleep, I even missed a snack break which is quite rare as these little breaks do give you something to focus on in the long, up to 13 hour flights, after you have watched all the interesting movies on offer, seen the current, mostly depressing, news and fought your way to the always engaged on board facilities, that's flying for you, glad to be back, but don't expect a sudden raft of postings, material is getting thin on the ground now.
